When disaster strikes, your pets can be affected as much as you and other family members. After all, your pets are members of your family, too. The folks at Pet Safe want you to plan ahead of time for emergencies affecting pets. As a program under the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Pet Safe offers pet-owner education and information to help you become your pets' first responder in emergencies and disasters. Learn how to make a pet "go kit" and hear from people who 'were there,' what it was like to take care of hundreds of animals during the onslaught and aftermath of Super Storm Sandy.
